PostSubject: My 5   Sun Feb 01, 2009 11:27 am

Hi guys im new to the site, just thought i would say safe and post some pictures of my 5 up, see what people think this is the day i got my 5, notice the big smile stretched from one ear to the other

and a few of the car its self

car had been sat on my drive for a while, cos it wouldn't start (fuel pump relay had gone) i lost my job couldn't afford to do any thing with it, and to make it worse it was leaking, i thought i would fix the leak before i got it running as it could be a long time till i got a job, and by then the rust could be eating the car up

thought the coolant was leaking into the floor pan, but when i took the dash off to have a look i realized where the water was coming from. on the driver side had completely rusted through, i got the window out so a new plate could be welded over, but when i got the windscreen out all the bottom of the front window sill was rusted where the rubber had perished and the water was sitting in the sill its self

after the new plate had bin welded, i took the windowsill back to metal and treated the rust, i was using u plastic tarpaulin to cover my window over night, and one morning after i had taken the tarpaulin off and tucked it under my car for safe keeping my dad decided to fold it up tided and get it out the way, but as he pulled it our from underneath the car the tarpaulin caught the back left quarter panel and side skirt and snapped it pretty bad,

after i pulled it off completely i realized it was only held on by silicon filler and a cable tie at either end, and the other side wasn't much different,

the police pulled me over out side Cardiff central station on some joke terrorism ting, and even after i asked em not to open my bonnet to far, they did, which bent my grill Sad

there were small bubbles of rust around the back windows and underneath the skirts was a mess, i cleaned what i could off, and tided it up as best i could, but i was left with tatty paint work, the inside of the foot wells didn't look to pretty either

a few days after i got a job, which was amazing, i also took my old boss to court about sacking me on the spot, i won and got given 700 quid (loving it)
a mate had just started renting his own unit (barn) where he was spraying cars, offering me a heavy discount he said he would give it a full color change, and sort all the rust out so having just landed a wedge of money it seemed a silly thing not to do

(thats his red 106 rally gti turbo and another mates 106 quick sliver)

new bumpers both side skits and front and back quarters were brought

when my front quarter wing was taken off it was all rotten underneath all the rust was treated and undersealed along with the wheel arches

my car taken back to metal

all rust treated and undersealed

(sorry some of the pictures are pretty shitty, my mate txt me em, and the quality was lost B) )

prepping

* SPRAY TIME *

the car had just bin sprayed inside when i got a txt with this picture again bad lighting but i love the colors almost wish i had had it done in these

the paint looks bright because its wet and the spot light is right on it

(TESCO COKE IS THE SHIT)

and then last few are after the paints had time to chill out on the brightness a little bit but again the quality/color was lost

heres some taken with a decent camera

bad news though, my driver door reacted with something - never good

while the dash is off i figure i might as well try and sort the little bits underneath out so i don't have to take the dash off again, cos it was a bit of a mission, so i got a;

new speedo
new fuel pump relay
new led bulbs to change the color of my display
and a lockworth speedo kit in white

and i was undecided on what type of red to have it sprayed when i saw his pug i just said ill have it that red plz, i was told it had to be bright no matter what, but im not one for the attention and i don't like the idea of being noticed all the time (by the wrong people and police) i had like 3 reds that i was deciding on, and then the lad pulled the cover of his pug and when i saw the red with white wheels i knew that that was what i wanted so i had it sprayed the same red (sad i know) i was hoping to get some lenso r5's in white put on, i have seen them on a R5 raider but the spokes we colored raider blue/purple to match the car and it looked sweet, so just to give a u glimps of what im trying to go for (and to show of his pug a little bit)

so that's pretty much it so far, Ive just brought some new sparco sprint bucket seats with the 4 point harness and runners - only 100 quid o yeah and the little sparco pads so the harness dont digin for a 10ner

(also the lad who's bin spraying my car has lost his unit/barn because his landlord had a stroke and is selling up all his land so my car will be stuck on my drive again - which will hopefully prompt me to get the dash back init and get the little bitch up and running again soooooooooooon-ish only problem is my driver doors not looking to healthy)

hope u all enjoy

safe Razz
